Legal Issues in the Use of Blended Finance in Japan

“Blended Finance” is attracting global attention, and its use is spreading steadily. According to data from Convergence , a cumulative total of 1,123 blended financing transactions, totaling more than $213 billion, have been executed, with an annual average of approximately 85 financing events for each of the past 10 years and a median annual investment size of approximately $15 billion . In addition, since the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) approved Blended Finance Principles in 2017, there have been ongoing discussions on promotion of Blended Finance based on these principles, in the context of mobilizing private finance to resolve global issues, at the United Nations, EU, World Economic Forum, G20, and G7 .
